Girl Pow-R released their debut single, “KRISI,” in support of Ontario’s Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week (November 19–25, 2017). The song aims to empower young people and inspire strength in the face of challenges like bullying.
Advocating Confidence and Acceptance
Members of Girl Pow-R spoke at an anti-bullying forum at Cardinal Ambrozic Catholic High School on November 20th, encouraging youth to embrace being different, reach out to others, and build confidence through a fresh voice and sound. The song “KRISI” tells the story of a “mean girl” who hides fear behind pride, shedding light on common struggles many face during adolescence.
Music Meets Social Causes
Each member of Girl Pow-R is passionate about social causes including girls’ education, youth homelessness, and healthy living. Their commitment goes beyond music, aiming to inspire positive change. You can hear more about their motivations in a Youth Day Global 2017 interview with Mark S. Schwartz at Yonge-Dundas Square.
A Powerful Pop-Rock Sound
Written and produced by a.n.g.e.l from Arrival Music Group and Jovan Jovanov from the Music Artist Development Centre, “KRISI” blends modern pop with a rock edge, reflecting the band’s confidence and empowering message.
