Canyon Entertainment Academy has officially launched a groundbreaking school designed to fill a gap in the training and education of young musicians and singers, ages 5 to 25, as they work towards becoming true artists and professionals in the music industry.
A Passionate Approach to Music Industry Training
The Academy introduces a fresh and passionate approach to teaching children and young people about the music industry. At its core are Performance Training courses that integrate essential skills required for success, including:
- Learning songs and memorization techniques
- Choreography
- Playing an instrument while singing
- Stage presence and mic techniques
- Impressing and engaging the audience
- Showcasing personal style
- Preparing for live performance
- Ways to ‘give back’ as an artist
Addressing Gaps in Traditional Music Education
For years, most music and vocal teachers have followed a mechanical, ‘by the book’ approach to teaching instruments or singing. However, Canyon Entertainment Academy fills a crucial void by offering an integrated curriculum focused on performance training. Their passionate teachers bring not only musical expertise but also firsthand industry experience, especially representing independent artists.
Inspired by Success: Girl Pow-R
The Academy’s creation follows the success of the all-girl pop-rock group Girl Pow-R, made up of talented young women ages 11 to 16. Their original single “Krisi” debuted in November 2017, and the group toured extensively across Ontario with over 65 shows in 2017. Their upcoming full-length music video, filmed entirely in Ontario and releasing in early 2018, is a testament to what young artists can achieve with dedication, practice, and the right training from Canyon Entertainment Academy.
Comprehensive Programs for Aspiring Artists
Students at the Academy have access to one-on-one instruction with talented teachers experienced in the music industry. Instruction covers instruments such as guitar, piano, ukulele, violin, brass instruments, as well as vocal training.
Additionally, the Academy offers a 16-week Performance Training program structured in 6 graduated levels to help students translate their musical talent into confident performances. Courses also include songwriting, music production, and recording, creating a well-rounded musical education.
