Empowering Young Women in Hamilton-Burlington
All-girl pop rock group Girl Pow-R took the stage at the debut Unstoppable Girls conference on Saturday, April 27, delivering an energetic performance that closed out a day dedicated to self-knowledge and personal empowerment.
A Day of Inspiration and Learning
Hosted by the Junior League of Hamilton-Burlington, the free event welcomed girls from the Keith neighborhood to take part in inspiring workshops and presentations. Keynote speaker Talli Osborne—born without arms and with shortened legs—shared her powerful story of resilience, positivity, and achievement, encouraging attendees to embrace “positive thinking and doing” in the face of challenges.
True Colors: Discovering Strengths and Personality
The day began at 9:00 a.m. with breakfast, followed by interactive sessions on self-esteem, anxiety, and mindfulness. Christine Gardner, coach and professional speaker from The Gardener’s Group, guided participants through the True Colors exercise, helping them identify their personality types, strengths, and areas for growth.

Girl Pow-R’s Performance and Encore
At 3:00 p.m., Girl Pow-R energized the audience with a 30-minute set, earning a standing ovation and an encore request. Manager Dawn Van Dam expressed gratitude for the opportunity:
“We’re very thankful for having been a part of the Junior League’s inaugural program and hope to be back for the next ones.”
